Monica Conyers Sentenced

(Detroit, MI)  --  Former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers will spend three years and one month in federal prison.  The wife of Congressman John Conyers screamed when sentenced yesterday and vowed to appeal.  Last June, Monica Conyers pled guilty to one count of bribery conspiracy. She admitted to accepting six-thousand dollars in exchange for her vote in favor of the one-point-two-billion-dollar Synagro sludge hauling contract.  John Conyers was not involved in this matter.
