Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra
(Holland, MI - WHTC News) - It’s the story that just keeps on going and going.
It has been nearly a fortnight since the nation was told, in print and on television, about Holland-Grand Haven being the second happiest market in America during polling taken last year. One person who saw the televised report was so moved that she mailed Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra a check for 250 dollars.
Ramona Scott lives in the New York City borough of Brooklyn and apparently has no connection to the Tulip City. However, in the spirit of “paying it forward,” she sent the funds, hoping that it could be shared equally among 10 Holland residents who are down on their luck and could use something that would “brighten their day.”
City Council accepted the gift with gratitude during Wednesday night’s meeting. Although no decisions were immediately made, Wolff says that the city will keep track of how this 250-dollar gift will be dispersed.
