(undated - WHTC News) - An Ottawa County road was the scene of two separate accidents involving motorcycles in less than a 36-hour span this week.

The first crash occurred late Wednesday morning, when Anthony Sumrell of Kentwood, trying to turn his vehicle into a driveway off of Leonard Street near Tallmadge, slammed head on into a motorcycle coming in the opposite direction, throwing its driver, Robert Ware, from the machine. Ware was taken to Metro Health’s Wyoming campus for treatment of minor injuries; Sumrell was not injured but was ticketed.

Early yesterday evening, 40-year-old Willie Hill of Muskegon suffered serious spinal and internal injuries when his motorcycle slammed into a ditch off of Leonard Street near Nunica. Authorities say that he was apparently going too fast for a curve in the road as he passed 120th Avenue and lost control of his machine. Hill was eventually airlifted to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment.

The bikers were helmeted at the time of their crashes, both of which remain under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
