HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Tulip Time Festival has organized an evening filled with Dutch holiday traditions for Sinterklaas Eve, on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.
The festivities start at 6 p.m., with Dutch lantern making, activities and storytelling at the Holland Area Arts Council, 150 E. Eighth St. Supplies will be available for up to 300 children.
Donations for Kids’ Food Basket will be collected the Holland Area Arts Council from 6- 7p.m., such items as Cheerios, pretzels, raisins and Goldfish crackers. (Learn more at https://www.kidsfoodbasket.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/wish-list-updated-8.27.18.pdf.)
At 7 p.m. children with lanterns will follow Sinterklaas on his white horse in a procession down Eighth Street toward the Civic Center and Kerstmarkt, at Pine Avenue.
At the Civic Center, visitors will find a welkom ceremony, a Sinterklaas photo op; MAX Transit trolley rides; and holiday shopping.
The Sinterklaas Eve Celebration is free — money will be needed for those Kerstmarkt shopping — but mostly an outdoors event, so participants should dress warmly.
